Michael Bohnert, born 1963 in the northern Black Forest, is Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Würzburg since 2010. He studied medicine in Freiburg, where he also obtained a MD degree. He was trained as forensic pathologist in Bern and Freiburg. He habilitated in forensic medicine at the University of Freiburg in 2001. He obtained the Konrad-Händel-Award of Forensic Medicine in 2003. His main research interests are medical criminalistics, forensic medicine, forensic pathology and traumatology, especially the examination of burned bodies. Other current research projects are “Forensic Neuropathology and Neurotraumatology” and “Optical Methods in Forensic Medicine”.

Silke Grabherr is Professor of Forensic Medicine and Director of the University Center of Legal Medicine (CURML) in Lausanne–Geneva, a multi-site center comprising 15 locations in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. She holds full professorships at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. She is a forensic pathologist with a specialization in forensic imaging. Her main research interests focus on postmortem imaging, particularly postmortem angiography. She is internationally recognized for the development of multiphase postmortem CT angiography (MPMCTA), currently the most widely used method of postmortem angiography worldwide. She has trained forensic teams on all continents and served as the main editor of the Atlas of Postmortem Angiography. She is Vice-President of the German Society of Legal Medicine, leads working groups on postmortem imaging within the German and Swiss societies of legal medicine, and acts as an expert in numerous national and international forensic investigations, including collaborations with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Lucie Nováková is a Full Professor (since 2019) of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University, where she has been working since 2019. Her research focuses on advanced separation techniques, particularly ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and supercritical fluid chromatography, including their coupling with mass spectrometry. Her scientific activities cover a wide range of applications in pharmaceutical and bioanalytical chemistry, doping control, and plant analysis, with special emphasis on modern sample preparation approaches aimed at miniaturization, simplification, and increased analytical efficiency. She gained international research experience through fellowships at leading institutions, including the University of Geneva and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Professor Nováková is the author of a widely used book on HPLC theory and practice published in Czech and English (https://czechhplcbook.com) and ten book chapters. She has published nearly 180 peer-reviewed scientific papers with more than 6800 citations and is actively involved in teaching and education activities, such as HPLC and SFC training courses, seminars, and conferences.

Massimiliano Esposito is a Medical Doctor specialized in Forensic Medicine with honors and currently serves as a Full Professor of Forensic Medicine at the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Enna Kore. Alongside his academic career, he has acted as a forensic expert and technical consultant in high-profile cases before Italian courts. His professional and research interests focus on forensic pathology and histopathology, bioethics, penitentiary medicine, and the application of new technologies in crime scene investigation. He is actively involved in doctoral education within the PhD program Technological Innovations in Biomedical Sciences and regularly contributes to international scientific discourse as an invited speaker at major conferences. Professor Esposito is the author of more than 60 scientific publications, including monographs and book chapters. He serves as Associate Editor of several international peer-reviewed journals, including Frontiers in Medicine, PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Epidemiology, and Discover Toxicology. His work bridges academic research, forensic practice, and ethical aspects of contemporary medicine.

Silvia Farkašová Iannaccone is an Associate Professor of Forensic Medicine and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, where she graduated in medicine in 1995. She completed her habilitation in Forensic Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University, in 2020. She is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in forensic medicine and medical ethics and concurrently works as a forensic physician at the Medico-Legal and Pathological-Anatomical Department of the Health Care Surveillance Authority in Košice. Her professional interests include forensic autopsy practice, assessment of violence in living persons, mushroom intoxications, and selected ethical aspects of medicine. Professor Farkašová Iannaccone plays an active role in the Slovak Society of Forensic Medicine and serves on the editorial boards of scientific journals in the field. Her work integrates academic teaching, forensic practice, and medico-ethical expertise.
